One of the big selling points of this torch are the 3 high CRI 5000K natural white Nichia 519A LEDs. Since there are springs at both ends of the tube, the SC18 can accept regular flat top batteries and even longer 18650s which have integrated charging in them as well.

For reference, here’s a baseline shot, with all the room lights off and almost nothing hitting the sensor. Also, here’s the light with the worst PWM I could find. I’m adding multiple timescales, so it’ll be easier to compare to the test light. Unfortunately, the PWM on this light is so bad that it doesn’t even work with my normal scale, which is 50 microseconds (50us). 10ms. 5ms. 2ms. 1ms. 0.5ms. 0.2ms.In a display faster than 0.2ms or so, the on/off cycle is more than one screen, so it’d just (very incorrectly) look like a flat line. I wrote more about this Ultrafire WF-602C flashlight and explained a little about PWM too. User Interface and Operation You can’t use third party batteries in the Warrior Mini 2 but I was able to charge the battery in my external charger, although it’s not recommended since the positive and negative terminals of the battery are next to each other, separated by a thin insulator. If you’re not careful you might short the battery.Turbo lasts just under a minute while high takes almost three and a half minutes to step down, but they both converge at the medium level, and all three modes stay there for almost 5 hours. Really, aside from the short burst at the beginning, this is a ~300 lumen light. It would’ve been nice to see it sustain high for a bit longer than that. I also tested the Thrunite T2 which runs off the larger 21700 battery but is still very compact. Thrunite quote a 3757 lumen output although I measured a fair bit lower at just under 3000 lumens, still very powerful for its size. Turbo output from Thrunite T2 Mode Memory: memorizes the last brightness level used in the general modes (except Moon, Turbo and Strobe) On the other side of the light, the head has some cooling fins cut into it, which are identical to those found on the Wurkkos TS10. That’s where the comparisons end, I promise. In another interesting move, the USB-C charging port is on what I consider to be the front of the light, above the make a model markings. The SC32 has a narrow rubber cover for the port, unlike other Sofirms which have a larger square cover. It fits fairly snugly, but is not too difficult to remove when you need to charge. Next to the charging port is a status light which stays on for 5 seconds when you first turn the light on, displaying in green when charge is good, solid red when it’s low, and flashing red when it’s critical. It also flashes red while charging.

But what you lose in output you make up for in the light quality. I measured a warm 4243K colour temperature, with barely any tint and a high CRI of 95 and an equally impressive R9 of 91. Here’s the tailcap, which has a little bump out to house the magnet. The edge is also even with this bump out, and allows room for the lanyard holes. There is also a USB-A to USB-C charging cable included, which is a good one to use, as the charging port is recessed and in somewhat of a tight space. If the plastic head around the USB-C plug is too wide, it won’t fit. Measurement disclaimer: Testing flashlights is my hobby. I use hobbyist-level equipment for testing, including some I made myself. Try not to get buried in the details of manufacturer specifications versus measurements recorded here; A certain amount of difference (say, 10 or 15%) is perfectly reasonable. What’s Included It’s a little less convenient removing the battery to charge it, but you don’t have to worry about making sure any external ports are sealed.

Simple Operation: Access different outputs with the side electronic switches for any daily use scenario. Battery indicators on the side switch to get a battery level reminder at a glance. It features six brightness levels: Moon(3Lm)/Low(100Lm)/ Medium(350Lm)/ High(800Lm)/ Turbo(1800Lm)/ Strobe(1800Lm). As always, I took my measurements at 30 seconds after turn on. The lowest modes didn’t quite meet specifications, but the fresnel lens proved its worth in the higher modes as I measured over 13,851 cd on turbo, pushing the throw 21 meters farther than spec! In the highest turbo mode I measured 465 lumens at turn on, 462 lumens after 10 seconds, 458 after 30 seconds, and dropped to around 220 lumens after 2 minutes where it remained for the rest of my measurements. I have the 6500K version which is measured at a slightly warmer 5855K without too much tint and a CRI of 65.

Another thing that’s a bit annoying is the jump between moonlight and low. The difference between low, medium, high, and turbo is ok, but not having anything between 1 and 90 (advertised) lumens is jarring. If you think accidentally activating a 10-lumen low mode when you’re expecting moonlight is bad, hitting low on the SC32 will leave you blinking for a minute afterward. It’s no better with the smooth ramping mode either, since it’s very hard to get into a level below the stepped low level. Lumen measurements (for each mode) Mode There’s also the enthusiast’s favourite the Emisar D4V2 which you can configure however you like – front LEDs, switch LED, body colour etc. Turbo output from Emisar D4V2 (3 x domed Nichia 519A 4500K emitters 3800 lm)

The torch head got warm to the touch at around 46°C. The moonlight mode I measured at 2 lumens which is a bit bright for a moonlight mode but not too bad. The Acebeam E70 Mini comes with a short USB-C to USB-A cable, a lanyard, spare o-rings and a user manual. The T1S is pretty good value for a no-frills but powerful compact torch with regulated outputs, good build quality and an excellent user interface. It would be nice to see Thrunite offer some higher CRI, warmer LED options though and it is a bit larger than similar offerings from Olight and Fenix. Fenix PD25R Also above is the light beside my custom engraved TorchLAB BOSS 35, an 18350 light. I reviewed the aluminum version of that light in both 35 and 70 formats. Unscrew the ring below the head to reveal the USB-C charging port. Everything is perfectly machined and there’s an o-ring to maintain its IP68 waterproof rating.

To put that in context, that old Mini Maglite you have in your drawer weighs over 100g, is almost 15cm long and has an output of around 15 lumens, similar output to your smartphone torch but with a longer range! The torch runs off an included 700 mAh protected 16340 battery – the same Fenix ARB-L16-700P in the Fenix E18R V2.0. I’ve also measured their colour temperature and accuracy with a spectrometer – if you’re using a torch for longer periods of time the quality of light is also important.Note all beam shots were shot with the exposure fixed and at 5000K colour temperature.Sofirn didn’t go for “short” on the SC21 Pro and used a nice deep reflector. This gives a great beam profile. The joys of knowing how to reflow an emitter. I’ve only just started doing it and it’s such a great thing to learn. Sofirn sent 2x IF19’s and one SFT40 to reflow in. They released with an SST40 and currently the SFT40 is in production. It has a nice design and good build quality and comes with a power bank feature so the USB-C charging port works both ways. Using the power bank function of the Wurkoss TS25 Advanced Temperature Regulation (ATR) technology: ATR will adjust the brightness level automatically when the driver temperature reaches a relatively high temperature to prevent overheating. Leading Performance: This LED flashlight is equipped with SST-40, easily lighting up the path in front of you with significantly improved throw: it delivers a maximum output of 1800lm at a distance of up to 217 meters, producing a particularly soft and balanced beam profile to preserve comfortable vision.
