I loved the first two books in Holly Jackson's "A Good Gir's Guide to Murder" series, did not love the third book, but was still excited to read this one. i honestly should’ve made time to read this in one sitting because the story takes place over the span of 8 hours and reading it in one go would have been so much more immersive.

Five Survive is the latest release from beloved author, Holly Jackson, well known for her hugely-successful A Good Girl's Guide to Murder series. However, when the sniper reveals himself and asks simply for a secret that one of the friends is keeping, it sets all of them against each other. All friends in some which way or another, brother and sister, boyfriend and girlfriend or just simply friends.Pip and Ravi are still, and always will be, my favorite couple in a murder mystery/thriller book because as I've said before, I HATE romance in mystery books, but I'm just glad that this wasn't the main focus in this, though that ending letter sure was. As far as characters go, I thought Red and Oliver in particular were very compelling and well developed; the latter especially was increasingly terrifying as the book went on, and I loved the juxtaposition between the him and the sniper as different kinds of antagonists. Any sixteen-year-olds would expect trouble, but this is Northern Ireland 2018, where abortion is still illegal.

She watched a blue sedan edging forward to pass, and she helped it along with her eyes, pushing them ahead. I also loved how fast paced this is, because I really wanted a book that was fast and quick, which this was, though it was a little confusing at times, like with some of the plot twists I had to really think about what was happening.With edge-of-your-seat tension and a gripping mystery, Holly Jackson has written another instant classic! The story, the plot, the ending, the secrets, the characters in this book, the mystery and the ending.

I honestly got so freaked out one time that my eyes teared up, which never happens to me, no matter how scared I am while reading. Red said, not loud enough for anyone at the very front of the RV to hear, where it would have been more use. Overall, my expectations for ‘Five Survive’ were well exceeded; that scene with Red and her mother at the end? By the end of the book I understood his purpose, but it was hard at some points fighting through to get to that purpose. She enjoys playing video games and watching true-crime documentaries so she can pretend to be a detective. There’s definitely a lack of character development in Five Survive compared to the author’s previous trilogy, which could be due to the fact that this is a standalone novel, but I had trouble keeping each person separated as they all sounded exactly the same. They’d been driving on this same road for the past hour, I-73 becoming I-74 and then US 220 without much fanfare. Eighteen-year-old Red and her friends are on a road trip in an RV, heading to the beach for Spring Break. A fearsome, remarkably ambitious novel that breaks through the boundaries of the genre to become epic - in all the best senses of the word.

Because she couldn’t sleep if she wasn’t on the left side, and just as she was trying to read Maddy’s mind back about that, her eyes caught on a green sign outside in the night, flying over the windshield. Her friends are no less well-rounded, with depth and drama that keeps readers guessing at every twist and turn. With it taking place over the course of 8 hours, Jackson has no choice but to move the story through dialogue. don't really care about him or the fact that he's the mole because by that time i just wanted for the whole thing to be over. The trips starts off fine, but soon the tires of their RV are shot out in an area with no cell service. There's a sniper out there lurking in the dark and they have their sights set on our six friends, who are now trapped in their disabled vehicle. There is a lot to really enjoy in this story and there is great energy to the writing, as well as some fine characterization' - Peter James, award-winning and no.
