Tina King and Nicholas Hack owners and chefs of Il Casita, a gorgeous little Mediterranean restaurant situated on St Lawrence’s Green in Crediton Devon,

Their story so far:

Their love and passion for food and travel have taken them on a journey far and wide cooking for many different people of all walks of life. From the rich and famous to cooking in fields for the masses. Tina stared her journey as a young girl working in hotels, she trained as a chef at college to then travel most of Europe cooking. Her experience has gained her wide knowledge of every aspect of the cooking world, from working for Albert Roux in the early 90’s, private chef for the rich and famous in New York to having her private catering business in the city of London. Nicholas’s early days started in the Army giving him the discipline and drive to put him on the right path to become the master of the kitchen world. His vast knowledge and experience of food and ingredients is just far from non. He has worked his way around kitchens leading him to executive positions for high profile clients, from Lady Gosling’s private chef, head chef positions in many investment banks, to executive head chef at Kew Gardens for Oliver Peyton.

When these two passionate chefs met they put their experience and knowledge together to become one. Both raised in Devon and the love for local produce they put down some roots and created their dream to open up their restaurant. 3 years on its going from strength to strength. Il Casita has a strong Mediterranean influence from their love of travel. The Mediterranean flavors bring back such fond memories for both from their younger days starting out. This shine through on Il Casitas menus. The menus change monthly keeping seasonal and sustainable. This is very important for these two chefs to always make their food fresh and current, for evolving to the next level. Nicholas is always looking and creating new dishes. The kitchen is a fast past place to be and so is Nicks head. Whilst you’ll find Nick in the kitchen and Tina creating lovely dessert or out the front greeting the guests, they always have time for their customers during the evening. Nick loves to talk about food. He lives, eats and breaths food!!!!!
